If you've ever used a foldable phone, you know about the crease. That annoying line running down the middle of the screen that never quite goes away. Well, Samsung just showed off a foldable display at CES 2026 this week that has no crease at all. Zero. Gone.

The demo unit at their Las Vegas booth looked almost magical when unfolded—completely smooth, like a regular phone screen, with no visible line whatsoever. Compare that to today's foldable phones where you can both see and feel the fold line, and you'll understand why people stopped mid-stride to take a closer look.

Samsung pulled this off by redesigning two key things: the glass material itself and the hinge that does the folding. The new setup spreads out the pressure more evenly when you fold the screen, so the material doesn't bunch up and create that telltale crease. As a bonus, they also managed to hide the front camera under the screen, which means no black dots or notches interrupting your display.

For anyone who's been waiting for foldable phones to feel less like a compromise, this is a big deal. The crease has been the number one complaint since these phones first came out back in 2019—people worried it looked cheap and would wear out over time.

So when can you actually buy one? Samsung hasn't said, but based on how these things usually work, we're probably looking at 12 to 18 months before this tech shows up in stores. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Z Flip 7 seem like the most likely candidates to get it first.
